We are Sue O’Connor and Mel James-Henry – two fully qualified, DBS-cleared, experienced Youth Workers from Crosby. We have opened a new after-school youth provision for 11-17 year-olds called “The Mix” Youth Café.
“The Mix” is based in the Community Room of The George in the heart of Crosby Village and offers free entry, free membership, free wifi and even a £3.49 Meal Deal.
We create a happy, inclusive, social environment to deliver informal education on a wide range of topics. We also offer:-
- Advice, information, projects and new opportunities;
- Pastoral care and 1-1 mentoring;
- Homework support;
- Good conversation;
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme options for the Service and Skills sections;
- Day and evening trips;
- Fun games, quizzes, team-building etc;
- Music and performance opportunities;
- A chance to simply chill-out after school / college;
- Encouragement to develop interests, creativity and leadership;
- Openings to engage with our local, regional or national Youth Parliament;
- Raised community and environmental awareness;
- Opportunities to raise issues which matter to you;
- Discussions and debates on current affairs;
- Referrals / signposting information on complementary services.
Young people can expect to make new friends, develop their communication and inter-personal skills, explore their identity, experience decision-making and increase their self-confidence.
There are seven secondary schools in the Crosby area and everyone is welcome to attend. See our flyer and send it on.
