Unlike commercial cafes, qualified youth workers are present to provide a safe, inclusive environment, where all young people can relax and feel valued. Youth Workers are trained to deal with bullying, homophobic, sexist and racist incidents, for which there is a zero-tolerance policy. Young people attending alone can expect to feel very welcome and will soon develop new friendships by participating in all the fun activities and informal educational projects on offer at The Mix.
All young people are required to complete membership, medical and consent forms, counter-signed by a parent, guardian or carer.
Forms can be collected from The Mix during the session or downloaded from here

The Red Box Project provides free menstrual products for young people who might otherwise go without.
Ask workers for the red box if you need anything. When the Youth Cafe is open, there is also a small box in the ladies toilet with a selection of products.
The Red Box Project collects donations of sanitary products and pants from members of the public. Locally there is a red bin in Sainsburys to collect sanitary products. Members of the Red Box community then put them into red boxes to give to schools and youth projects. Please visit www.redboxproject.org for further information.
